My creative journey has evolved through several disciplines, each shaping the way I see and interpret the world.

Beginning with a background in graphic art, and later landscape design, I developed a deep appreciation for composition, balance, colour, and the rhythms of the natural world. Those experiences continue to influence my painting today, from the textures of the landscape to the way light moves through trees and across open skies.

I live on the edge of 100 acres of bushland, and much of my inspiration begins there. Walking among the trees, looking up at the sky, and listening to birds has always been where I feel most at peace. The changing colours of the seasons, the quiet presence of the landscape, and the small details often unnoticed all find their way into my work. With a keen eye for detail and a love for free expression, I paint to communicate not only what I see, but also what I feel – a sense of wonder, stillness, beauty, and connection.

Light is a constant thread throughout my work, and my pursuit of capturing it is ongoing. I’m drawn to the emotion a single colour can evoke and often work with rich yet earthy tones, creating pieces that feel both realistic and interpretive. My background in technical drawing continues to shape my process, bringing structure and form, while leaving room for spontaneity, movement, and intuition.

I work primarily in acrylics, with a planned approach that stays open to unexpected moments as a painting unfolds. Inspired by the Impressionists and their fascination with colour and light, painting for me feels like both a creative practice and a contemplative one. It invites me to slow down, moving away from a rushed approach into something more reflective and immersive.

My faith and spirituality are deeply woven through everything I create. Beauty and light represent something deeper for me. Something that connects us to the source of light and life, to one another, and to the world around us. Painting becomes a way of honouring those moments when the ordinary reveals something extraordinary.

Many of my works are botanical in subject, though often symbolic in meaning. A flower may represent a family member, a memory, or someone who has passed; a story quietly held within the image. This sense of meaning and storytelling is central to my practice. I love that art can become part of a home, part of a family’s story, and continue speaking over time in ways both personal and shared.

My hope is that my paintings invite people to pause: to notice beauty, reflect, and reconnect with a sense of presence. To create space for stillness. And perhaps to encounter something meaningful in the quiet.
